Why sliding wardrobes?

More room, better
looking

Hinged wardrobe doors need clearance to swing — clearance that eats into your floor space and restricts furniture placement. Sliding doors solve this completely. The panels glide on a track and stack behind each other, meaning the full door opening is always accessible without any space penalty.

Beyond the practical advantage, a sliding wardrobe is a design decision. A full-mirror configuration effectively doubles the perceived size of a bedroom. A frosted or tinted panel adds material interest to a wall that would otherwise be flat and forgettable. And because every system we make is custom-sized, the doors fit your opening precisely — no awkward gaps, no off-the-shelf compromise.

Panel options

Four panel types,
every look

Each panel type has a different visual character and suits different rooms and design intentions. Panels can be mixed within a single wardrobe — a common combination is two mirror panels flanking a frosted centre.

Mirror wardrobe doors Melbourne Most popular

Mirror Panels

The single most requested panel type. A full-mirror wardrobe reflects light, makes the room feel larger, and provides a full-length dressing mirror without taking up floor space. Available in standard clear mirror and smoked tinted mirror.

Clear MirrorSmoked MirrorBronze MirrorFull Length
Frosted glass wardrobe doors Melbourne Soft & diffused

Frosted Glass Panels

Frosted glass admits diffused light while obscuring the contents of the wardrobe. A softer, more considered alternative to mirror — particularly popular in master bedrooms and walk-in robes where the brief is calm and uncluttered.

Tinted glass wardrobe doors Melbourne Premium

Tinted & Clear Glass Panels

Bronze, grey and charcoal tinted glass panels add colour and depth to a wardrobe wall — a more architectural choice that reads as considered and premium. Clear glass works well when you want to display contents deliberately, such as in a display wardrobe or walk-in robe.

The room feels
twice as large

A full-height mirror wardrobe is the most effective single intervention you can make in a bedroom — more so than a new light fitting, new flooring or new furniture. The mirror reflects the entire room back at you, doubling the apparent depth and making even a compact bedroom feel genuinely spacious.

We install mirror wardrobes in standard clear mirror and in smoked or bronze tinted mirror for a warmer, more intimate feel. The mirror is bonded to a backing panel and fitted into an aluminium frame in your choice of colour — the result is a completely contained, rigid door that won't distort, warp or delaminate.

Ideal for: Primary bedrooms, guest rooms, children's rooms, and any bedroom where maximising the sense of space is a priority
  • Standard clear mirror — sharp, bright, true reflection
  • Smoked mirror — warm, slightly bronzed reflection
  • Bronze mirror — warm tone, popular in heritage and Hamptons interiors
  • Mirror bonded to rigid backing — no distortion, no delamination
  • Frame in satin black, white, brushed silver or any custom colour
  • Soft-close bottom guide available as standard upgrade

02 Frosted & tinted glass doors

Glass that works
with your interior

Frosted and tinted glass panels give you the lightweight, luminous quality of glass without the full transparency of clear. Frosted panels scatter light beautifully — they glow softly when backlit and have a calm, considered quality that mirror cannot replicate. Tinted panels add colour depth and a sense of richness.

All glass panels we use in wardrobe doors are toughened safety glass, edge-polished before installation. We offer acid-etched frosting (a satin, non-directional texture) and sandblasted frosting (a slightly coarser, more tactile surface). For tinted glass, we stock grey, bronze and charcoal — and can source custom tints on request.

Ideal for: Primary bedrooms, walk-in robes, studios, home offices and anywhere the design brief calls for material interest over reflectivity
  • Acid-etched frosting — fine, satin, non-directional texture
  • Sandblasted frosting — coarser, more tactile surface
  • Grey, bronze and charcoal tints available from stock
  • Clear glass option for display or open-shelf wardrobes
  • All glass toughened to AS/NZS 2208 safety standard
  • Panels can be mixed — e.g. mirror + frosted in the same opening

Had mirror wardrobes installed in the master bedroom and both guest rooms. The difference is remarkable — the rooms feel twice the size. The installation was fast and tidy and the doors glide perfectly.

We went with frosted glass panels in a satin black frame for our renovation and the result is stunning. Exactly the look we wanted — calm and considered. Best Stairs matched the frame colour to our door handles perfectly.

Common questions

Wardrobe FAQs

Can you install sliding wardrobes in an existing opening?

Yes — the majority of our wardrobe installations are retrofits into existing openings. We measure the opening precisely and manufacture the doors and track to suit. The top and bottom tracks are fixed to the existing structure with no structural modification required. The only thing to check beforehand is that the ceiling is level and the floor is reasonably flat — we can accommodate minor variations during installation, but significant unevenness may need to be addressed before we start.

Can I mix different panel types in one wardrobe?

Absolutely — mixed panel configurations are one of the most popular options we do. A common choice is a mirror panel on the outer doors with a frosted glass panel in the centre, or alternating clear and tinted panels for a feature effect. There is no limit to how panels can be combined, as long as the frame profile is consistent across all doors. We'll advise on what works visually during the measure-up visit.

How do I match the frame colour to my room?

The easiest way is to bring a physical reference to either of our showrooms — a door handle, a piece of trim, a paint chip or even a cabinet door. We can colour-match our powder-coated aluminium frame to almost any Dulux or custom colour. For standard colours (satin black, white, brushed silver, gunmetal), no matching process is needed — we stock these in our standard range. Allow extra lead time for custom colour-matched frames as these require a separate powder-coating run.

What is the maximum height you can go?

We can manufacture wardrobe doors up to approximately 3000mm (3 metres) in height. Standard doors are sized to 2400mm, which suits most ceiling heights. For floor-to-ceiling installations in homes with 2700mm, 3000mm or higher ceilings, we size the doors precisely to the ceiling height including any cornice offset. Very tall doors (above 2700mm) require heavier-duty rollers and may be subject to an additional charge — we'll include this in your quote.

How long does installation take?

A single two or three door wardrobe installation typically takes 2–3 hours. Larger openings with four or more doors, or installations with additional complexity (uneven floors, non-standard ceiling heights), may take up to half a day. The total timeline from measure to installation is generally 2–3 weeks, depending on our current schedule. We'll confirm the lead time and installation date when your order is placed.

Do the doors come with internal wardrobe fittings?

Our sliding wardrobe doors are a door and track system only — we do not supply the internal shelving, rails or drawers. However, because our doors sit on an external track in front of the opening, any internal fitting system can be used behind them independently. Many of our clients use the doors with a flat-pack internal system (IKEA PAX, Howards Storage, etc.) or with a custom cabinetmaker's internal fit-out — both approaches work seamlessly with our door system.
